Safaris are naturally social, but we respect your need for a private retreat at the end of the day. Our solo traveler policy is designed to give you the best of both worlds: a shared adventure in the bush and a private sanctuary for rest.
At Nhongo Safaris, we welcome solo adventurers with open arms. While your game drives and meals are shared with the group, providing a wonderful way to meet fellow travelers, we maintain a strict policy of private accommodation only. We do not allow guests who do not know each other to share a room.
Single Supplement Info: Because all rooms are private, a “single supplement” fee is applied to cover the cost of the individual chalet or lodge room. However, for budget-conscious US travelers, we offer a “Willing to Share” option on the vehicle and activities to keep your base tour price as low as possible while still ensuring you have your own private hut/bungalow every night.

What happens if the other people in my group have different interests?
Our guides are experts at “the balanced safari.” Whether you are a birder, a photographer, or a first-timer hunting for the Big Five, the guide ensures everyone’s interests are met. In a small group of 4–6, it’s easy to communicate and adjust the focus so that no one feels left out of the conversation.
Is there a "quiet policy" during game drives?
To ensure the best wildlife sightings and respect for the animals, we encourage a “hushed voice” policy while at a sighting. This prevents scaring off elusive predators and allows everyone to hear the sounds of the bush. However, the travel between sightings is a great time for socializing and learning from your guide.
Can I opt out of a group drive if I’m feeling tired?
Absolutely. While the group will depart as scheduled, you are always welcome to stay back at the lodge to rest or enjoy the facilities. Just let your guide know the night before. Please note that since the vehicle and guide are shared, we cannot provide a separate drive for those who choose to skip the scheduled group departure.
Will there be unexpected "add-on" costs once the group tour starts?
We believe in total transparency. Your group safari price includes all the essentials: your professional guide, open-vehicle game drives, park conservation fees, accommodation, and specified meals. The only costs not included are personal items, drinks, and discretionary gratuities. Unlike some operators, we don’t charge “hidden” fuel surcharges or mandatory gate fees upon arrival, allowing you to budget your 2026 trip with complete peace of mind.
